We have had six months of the 118th Congress, enough to see what the future holds for us, if, heaven forbid, Democrats fail to gain the seats we need to regain the House in 2024. We have had no governance, only performance art, aimed at pacifying the extreme right wing Freedom Caucus and restraining their urge to drive the economy off the cliff. It defies belief that Marjorie Taylor Greene is considered too liberal for membership in this cabal, but it says something about how far to the right Trump has dragged his party. There are no policies for this GOP - just “woke” hysteria, conspiracy theories and immigration fear-mongering. Look no further than the recent vote engineered by Lauren Boebart to open an investigation into the removal of the President by impeachment - a vote Tom Kean supported. Alongside Marjorie Taylor Greene, of course.
What must Kean think as he knots his tie in front of the mirror each morning, faced with the daily task of supporting such inanities? Does he look at his reflection and congratulate himself on a job well done? What does he tell Dad about his day’s work? Would he prefer that they switch on “Succession” and watch in silence together? The antics of the Logans must look like a Teddy Bear’s Picnic compared to the machinations of the viper’s nest he has tied himself to.
To appropriate Shakespeare, Kean is “but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more.”
Joe Biden, on the other hand, is a producer! Biden is delivering, age be damned! The economy rolls along. Inflation is down. Unemployment is down. Wages are up. Bidenomics is working! The economy is building from the bottom up and the middle out! Manufacturing jobs are rising, chip investment is soaring, and at last the global economic foundations for a green economy are being built.
Something else is working! OneNJ7! Since our launch less than 6 months ago, we have built an audience of 2000 for our newsletter, attracted 580 members to our FaceBook group, launched a website, seen the audience for our blogs grow, and started to boost posts like this on our public FB page.
We have raised $17,170 - and put it to good use. We have had two very popular outings with the billboard truck, hosted a very successful FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS brunch, and launched our first postcarding campaign to register likely Democrats. We have a Congressional Representative who is an empty suit, a “walking shadow, a poor player,” an invisible and anonymous cipher in contrast to his predecessor. We are doing, and will continue to do, all we can to ensure that Kean is “One Term Tom,” and that “government of the people, by the people, for the people” will thrive and prosper once again in the Seventh Congressional District!
